Im considering a blue seersucker suit for this coming summer--

What is the general wisdom on DB Seersucker?

Im leaning toward a 3 roll 2 with a waistcoat, but am open to suggestions...

Any thoughts on where to buy? Ive read pretty poor comments on the Haspel, and am considering J. Crew and Brooks-- any source I should put on the short list?

A DB seersucker just seems a bit odd to me, don't know why, just does. Something to do with how relaxed and cool seersucker is, where as double breasted is much less relaxed. Sorry, not very clear just trying to explain a gut reaction. A seersucker 3 piece with the 3/2 roll however sounds damn cool.

Same here. Seersucker DB seems odd to me also. BB has one in their Black Fleece line, and it doesn't appeal to me at all. Part of the problem for me with the BF suit is that not only is it db, but the stripes are red, white, and blue. I may like it better after I see it IRL, but it doesn't look good to me in the pics on the website.

DB OK if you get a more relaxed cut.

On the other hand, 3-piece seems quite perverse. I certainly wouldn't want a cotton waistcoat on my torso in summer weather.

If you want a DB for summer, I'd go w/ linen.

I have seen seersucker DBs (though never RTW) and they can look fine.

I've never seen a 3-piece seersucker suit and can't imagine it not looking weird.

This may come as a huge surprise, but I agree with you 100%, Cantabrigian. You absolutely hit the nail right on the head here.

Events only double breasted suits for summer should preferably be linen if they are not going to be wool.

But yes, as you said, seersucker double breasted suits can look fine.

And, yes, you being unable to imagine seersucker vested suits not looking weird are spot on. I have seen pictures of vested seersucker suits posted on AAAC and it is not just weird (which is actually being generous), but atrocious.

Take Sator’s advice ultra strongly: linen and seersucker suits should only be worn when absolutely necessary (which, fortunately, is very rare, even in Sator’s home city of subtropical

Anything but a 2 piece SB seersucker is an abomination. Even non-sack seersucker suits are pushing it!

I think a 3-piece seersucker could be kind of neat, if you could pull it off. It would be self-defeating, yes. But I can picture it looking kind of cool. Still, the thought of a vest on a hot day--ick.

I think that the DB and the 3-pc seersucker can be done well. You must have a little extra panache to pull off the 3-pc, though (IMO).

I am considering both looks for this summer. Here are a couple of examples.

I would think it would look no worse than the jacket and pants. I am more afraid that in the heat it might look as if I took a swim in it!
