A friend passed along some J. Press suits to me, a couple of which measure a bit longer than I typically wear. They need standard alterations, but I wonder whether the jacket is unfixably long. In case Niidawg happens to see this post, I know that the quarters need to be opened up a bit.

I just threw the jacket over what I wore today, so please ignore the rest of the fit.

Looks passable to me, without nitpicking too much.

I agree. You will probably be told this doesn't fit ten times over, but not by me.

I'm not an expert but it seems long to me. Also, I don't know about pinstripes on a sport coat.

Looks passable to me on length. It looks like a good fit for you with minor alterations. And I think you mentioned it's a suit and not just a sportcoat?

The fit is good enough. A tad long perhaps, but nothing that needs fixing, considering they were given to you. I see no need to spend any money for alterations on the jacket at all. Wear as is.

It's OK. Don't screw around with shortening it. It can be done.
In fact, I can recommend a superb tailor who will can do it. But,
the pockets will look a little low and the vent(s) a bit short. Besides,
the short jacket look will pass soon enough ( I hope)
