Seeking specific leather strap for my 1992 Brooks Brothers watch, which has original 18-carat gold-plated logo buckle. I've had this kind of watch since 1987 and it's gotten almost impossible to find the kind of strap I want, which enables me to keep the matching buckle. Seeking stitched black lizard (preferably teju) with 18mm width (lug to lug) and 14mm for buckle end. Brand new or excellent condition, please.

It looks like Omega might still makes similar but I've only found one site and it's as much as $80 and just the standard lizard. Thanks.

does anyone know why leather watch straps are so expensive, i was talking to a leather maker about it and he doesn't know either, standard seems to be like $100 for one, and i know the labour isn't the reason (machine stitching is fast and cheap), nor is it materials (a strap uses so much less leather than a leather jacket, or even a belt), nor is it shipping, cause it wold be cheap for such a small item, so what drives up the price of a leather watch strap?

what should i look for in a quality strap, trying to figure out the difference between a 100 dollar strap and a 10 dollar strap i see at walmart.

In this case the "Omega" label seems to be what makes it so high. Teju lizard isn't generally in that price range.

I have some extra lizard watch straps in 18 mm. How much are you looking to spend?

You're saying they meet all my criteria? 14 mm on buckle end, brand new or in excellent condition, black and preferably "Teju" (i.e. some interesting contrast in the texture), and double stitched (preferably at least slightly padded)? If all these are met then I might venture an offer. Thanks. Oh, also no "Longs." "Regular" length preferred, though "Short" might be possible.

I believe i have two. One padded, and one not. I'll snap a picture.

I found some possible straps on eBay but wanted to try more local jewelers first where I could physically see the object. One jeweler on Sat. actually had two of these straps - not Teju but otherwise met all my criteria - stitched (actually stitched but flat, as the Brooks Brothers watch originally came with; actually the strap is almost identical with the original, which I still have), black, and exactly the right fit. Not reduced but the guy changes the buckle for free and cost wasn't much anyway. Good jewelers, too, though brand name not on strap. Maybe was on box? Thanks.
