Seeking black leather bifold wallet zippered change compartment in NYC

I want to find a replacement for a men's Gucci wallet from the late 90's - either the same wallet (new or hardly used, ideally) or one with all the same "features".

I can't find the style at Gucci or similar ones at dozens of department stores. I also asked at Lederer, where they said they don't sell the style because Americans don't like to buy it. I asked at Ask Metafilter, and they referred me here. Can you help me find one, or if not, refer me to a store in New York City (preferably) or online where I can start asking around?

Here's my best description: it was black leather, and bi-fold. When you open the wallet and lay it on a table in front of you, it is configured like an envelope for the money (the cash-compartment is accessed from the top and runs the length of the wallet.) On the front surface of the 'envelope' is a zippered change/condom container on the left, and slots for credit cards on the right. When you close it, one side has a thin slot for another card or two (easy access to MetroCard).

Is there anything (serial #) that if I were to look closely at the original wallet, I could use to identify the model? (This is a gift, so it may be tricky to get my hands on the original.)

Custom made is a possibility -- does anyone in the NY area reputably make custom wallets? I am looking for something made with the highest quality materials that will last and, if I buy something off the shelf, be a "quality" brand. My price range is $250-$1000.

Thanks! That's almost exactly it. Does anyone know of the same style but with an exterior card slot?

Does anyone else have keywords that might help in my search?
