Seeing movies alone, your thoughts?

So unfortunately for the summer I am trapped in a college town. Two of my friends who were supposed to see the movie with me are gone out of town (which sucks) and there aren't that many people in my class for me to ask out. Movie is "Man of Steel", was hoping to gather a large crowd to see it with me but that won't be happening.

What are your thoughts on going out to see movies alone? Especially for a college student.

I prefer to see movies alone. Did so often when I was in college.

Movies are a terrible social experience and the social stigma against seeing them alone is stupid. You're sitting in a big room in the dark and you're not allowed to talk. Who cares if you're with anybody?

that is another thing I don't get

like I have to deal with people saying garbage such as "oh you are seeing this movie alone? you don't have any friends?" and I have to go through so much trouble if I want to see the movie with friends to work with the schedule. Most of my friends are douches about this **** too sometimes, two of the ones who were supposed to see the movie with me went out of town, the other two cancelled in the last minute. I mean I don't get how people can consistently work a large crowd to see a movie with them, I just don't get it.

Who are these people commenting? I've gone to plenty of movies by myself (traveling, what else are you going to do?) and nobody has ever said ****.

I've done it when out of town for work. Personally it feels a little weird during prime hours, but a matinee or late afternoon show is totally game IMO.
