This morning another long standing SFer and I were discussing this very thing on our walk to work.

We tend to agree that we need more clothing conversation, less mindless ranting.

I'm going to have buy at least 3 pairs of English welted shoes today to regain my equilibrium and it's all your fault.

Anyway...sorry to see you go GG.

BTW, has anyone heard from Bill (whnay) lately?

He poked his head in Current Affairs on the one subject I actually know about. See the climate change thread there

Sorry to see you go, gorgekko. I hope you'll return at some point in the future.

At the risk of sounding like a fogey, there does seem to be more noise and acrimony today than there was in the good ol' days (when members like pstoller, GQ Lawyer, and GatorStyle were still posting). I think that's the inevitable by-product of expansion -- the community is less tightly knit. Plus, some newbies go out of their way to be confrontational or controversial in order to make a "name" for themselves a la Matt Bevalaqua. (Can you tell what I have been doing for the last several weeks? [IMG]) I'm not sure what can be done about the situation, however.

*nodding* know what you mean dude. i think negativity may be the wrong word, but there is a small element (my personal suspicion is that its one person talking to himself a real lot) that is getting on my nerves too. Was funny for a very very very very short while. Really isnt anymore. still, i love it here, im not about to bail over it. Best wishes GG, hope you wander back in later.
Jeremy told me that the particular member was going straight into banishment…but I guess he never did. RJMan has been after him a bit, but the member won’t let up. I guess V is for Valueless. Jon.

Post-crash there seems to be less clothing content. Streetwear is pretty dead.

I post less, clothingwise, because I feel I've learned a great deal of what I wanted to know. Should I even go on some big bespoke adventure, I am now feeling well informed.

Personally, I haven't bought a piece of clothing in months. I have soooooooo much clothing now I have no need for anything else at the moment.

I still feel like I have a lot to learn. Plus there are a few things that simply interest me (see the blazer post).

There are certainly fewer Jantzen posts these days, but things will pick up now that Ricky's taking orders again. Also, the Grenson bomb is about to go off.

When I arrived in Brussels I ended up plowing through the DVD set for seasons 1-4. That was 52 solid hours in less than three weeks!! I couldn't look at the TV for the next month.

I also thought post-crash posts just seemed more vituperative in general, and especially so in the general fora, but I still learn so much that I'm loathe to just "bag it," particularly with respect to Jantzen, but also with bespoke (though God knows when I'd ever be able to afford it).

Horse: what do you mean by the "Grenson bomb?" Is Bennies expecting a kind of final Masterpiece shipment?

And this time I plan to be right at the point of impact (and then, naturally, obliterate my wallet) [IMG]
It does seem like the forum is moving a little slowly but I am not concerned. People still post, it will just take a while for things to settle down I think.
Anyway, goodbye Gorgekko, while we may not have necessarily agreed with everything you stated you will be missed [IMG]

Between E's (temporary) return, S's unpleasantness and V's daft ramblings, I think we are covered as far as forum "characters" are concerned. I have found that the ignore function works well, and saves me from fuming. I think the fact that I missed this place so much has now made me less tolerant of consistantly inane chaff and suchlike. Edit: I got the initial wrong: should be S not A! Now fixed. Thanks!

Yeah... we're working on that. I may need to make some new lists over the weekend, hopefully sparking some discussions.
