I have passed on my first tux to my brother and am now in need of a replacement. I fully understand the investment and am in need of suggestions. I have read about and looked at the ebay sellers and read my way through many threads here and on other sites. I need to keep it comfortably under $1K and would hope to be closer to $500. I have looked into options like TM Lewin, JCrew, and M. Valentino...

I am 6'4" (32x34) 170lbs and normally wear 40L. I will stay with traditional touches, peak, one button, no vents, flat front, etc, however with my frame it really helps to start with a slim silhouette, or the second options is have my tailor slice and dice pretty aggressively. RLBL was made for my frame and Banana Tailored Slim is right on the money for reference (opposite side of the scale they may be).

It will used for the most part as wedding attire (a few times a year) as I am 30 and the lady is 26...we are in the South so there are formal weddings a plenty.

Cheers!

I know it's one of the most hated brands on this forum, but Jos. A. Bank's Signature Peak-Lapel Tuxedo has all of the correct traditional sartorial details & is currently on sale for $318: http://www.josbank.com/menswear/shop...1_10050_101786

I'm pretty sure it's not going to be "slim fit", but as you said, your tailor could take care of that for you.

If you're willing to spend a little more, you could also try a made-to-measure one from Magnoli Clothiers: http://www.magnoliclothiers.com/roya...dos-p-246.html

I was actually gonna say the same thing. JAB has one-button tuxes in both peak lapel and shawl collar -- I don't think even Brooks Brothers has that kind of variety unless you start buying $2k Golden Fleece formalwear. And who gives a **** if your tux is fused or whatever. Plus, it's JAB. Go into the store, and they'll probably throw in a shirt and bowtie. :p

Thanks - I don't have direct access to the better stores, so I have a habit of wandering through website after website. I will stop by JAB and see how it feels.

Might be a redundant question, however if I did fancy the Magnoli option, should I chip in for the pure wool at +$150 or stick with the blend?

Again, appreciate the help and any other suggestions out there!

I would definitely go for the pure wool. You could also e-mail Magnoli to see what other fabrics he has available or if he can send you swatches.

I just bought the signature JAB grosgrain tux in 40S. The 34" pleated pants are very very wide around the thigh and ass. Jacket is good length but needs alot of waist supression.
