Sports coat advice, please.

Hi all,

I am new to this community and mens fashion in general.

I got a question regarding sports coat, I do have cotton navy, now I am looking for the second most versatile colour.
I do struggle to pick up one, as I will wear it inside during most of the year, and outside during warm months, I am based in London.

Here are some conditions :
Mid 20's
Medium blonde composition
Smart casual environment

I will wear it with, chinos (navy, blue, green, khaki, grey) or jeans, OCBD and might be some polo or t shirt sometimes.
Shoes - oxfords, loafers, white sneakers.

At this moment I am thinking about semi structured tan, as I am medium blonde with orangeish skin tone, I will never wear any brown or tan base layers, mostly focusing on pastels, white, grays for my shirts, that's why tan looks attractive.

I can manage navy for most cold months, but for SS I need some rotation at it will be daily Staple.

Please, any advice on that matter?

Have you considered a burgundy? It could pair with most of what you've listed. I own one and it sees regular use with a variety of shirt / trouser colours

My area is still professional in a traditional way, I am concerned that burgundy might be too attention-grabbing , and not classic enough, hipster vibe is something to be avoided.

If the environment it's being worn in is accepting enough of sneakers, tee shirts, green trousers and loafers then I don't think a muted burgundy would stand out any. I think a tan sports coat will stand out much more to be honest.

Grey would be an obvious choice, large scale glen plaid or another pattern

For me, it depends on occasions, formal meeting or training will be smart casual at least, so it is like blazer on top of shirt and tie.
I also intend to use it for casual occasions, but I have to consider semi-formal.

Do you have a particular summer friendly blazer on your mind? Perhaps a photo?

IMO, tailored clothing is more distinguished by cut and material than by color. You can have five different navy sport coats and none of them will be really alike. If you own blue cotton sport coat, I would maybe go with a blue wool. Or maybe look at your cut and try to find an even better silhouette. It can take a while to nail down the fit and silhouette of a sport coat, so sometimes doing so takes a few purchases.

That said, the two most useful sport coats in terms of color, I find, are navy hopsack wool and then brown tweed. Maybe go with a brown tweed, if you must, but I wouldn't be shy about getting another navy.

If you are just beginning to put your wardrobe together I would recommend basic staples of the best fit and quality you can afford. I have approximately 20 jackets and my four most versatile are;

1. Navy blazer
2. Royal blue textured and structured construction
3. Royal blue (lighter colour than 2) with a completely different texture and soft construction
4. Burgundy textured

Between the four I am OK for almost any situation and each is easy to match with a plethora of shirts and trouser combinations.

Thank you!
I did decided to have a look for different navy blazer, something more formal.

So, meanwhile I were trying different options. And suddenly realised that I don't have any double blazer breasted for formal occasions.

What do you think about that Ralph Laurent? They can alter the sleeves.
