Scottish Tartan Pants: Yay or Nay?

Bollocks. I'm a Scot and encourage anyone and everyone to wear tartan. The designation of tartans to specific clans was an invention of the Victorians. Before that it was a free for all - you just wore what the local weaver happened to feel like making.

And even by the strict "rules," Black Watch (and a couple of others I can't remember offhand) is expressly permitted to be worn by anyone, Scottish or not.

I've been looking for a good (and cheap) pair of black watch pants, uniqlo had a few different styles, but they sold out really fast. Guess I won't have them for holidays 2009, but will pick something up during after Christmas sales.

What rubbish. There are several tartans, most notably Black Watch, that can be worn by anyone regardless of clan or nationality.

I bought this a few weeks ago. It's actually quite nice, with a surprisingly slim cut and high armholes. It's fused, of course, but for the money it's a fun jacket for occasional events.

get the whole suit if it's there. slim fit, and black long toe shoes. (all depending on if you're slim)
