I'm looking for stuff along the lines of The Mist. Well-done thrillers/horror films with a nice sci-fi angle. Any ideas?

Alien
Aliens

(Don't bother with any of the other films in the series.)

The three mentioned make the Abyss look like a cartoon.
I wouldn't waste your time.

Too bad nobody thought to ask me. I'd have given you a few dozen movies to watch.

+a lot on Aliens and The Thing.

Some of the Body Snatcher movies are good - the 1978 one with Donald Sutherland, for example. Even the Nicole Kidman once from last year was surprisingly unbad.

connie, would't it be a better use of your time to do something that wasn't nerdy? aren't there some drunked girls you can try to take advantage of?

Brazil (although it's more of a sci-fi/thriller/satire)

Alien and Aliens are good recommendations, but Alien 3 is underrated. (Skip the fourth one.)
