I need to replace my old Lacoste sneakers I have been using for gym class forever. I am searching for a shoe I can wear with slim fitting jeans, bootlegged jeans, straight fit jeans, but I maintain the image of the rest of my outfit (which for high school for me is basically sophisticated casual). On the days I do not have gym I wear Cole Haan slip ons they are black, no laces, and have some white stitching, they are comfortable and very nice for me. I have a pair of custom made converses that are 3 sizes to big I really need to stop wearing. I am looking for a shoe I can wear for moderate activity in gym class, which is not much, almost nothing, but I can wear the entire day. I may just leave a regular pair of sneakers in my gym locker and buy a nice pair of converses like Varvatos or Purrcells to wear during the day, so I don't have that same annoying rotation of shoes.

These are something I came up with:

I'm sorry but as a former athlete I cringe when I hear you say you are wearing Converse for gym class, although they were the shoe of choice for 1940's basketball players they are probably the worst shoe you could wear for gym class--assuming you actually participate. I certainly would choose function over form or you may be paying for it in 15 years. What's wrong with keeping a pair of Nike's, New Balance or Asics in the locker for gym class?

Converse are fine for casual wear, but wear proper shoes for gym class (as mentioned already). So leave a pair in your locker as you were thinking.

I wore chucks to practice one day while my adidas' were being shipped and not only rolled both ankles but had whatever fluid is inside of blisters all over the toebox of my chucks after maybe 30 minutes of drills.

wear proper athletic shoes, and switch afterwards

Pickup a NOS pair of last year's model running shoes from the usual suspects for like $35 and call it a day.
