Zegna Mediterranean Neroli today. The Zegna line is pretty conservative and unexciting, but they really do know how to make citruses. Amazing quality, especially their neroli and bergamot.

Today is basically a late fall day (well, at least here in Atlanta our version of late fall). I am wearing West Coast Shaving's Oriental EdP. It's woody, spicy, with a lot of pear.

I think the Zegnas are really nice--and not just the citruses (though that Mediterranean Neroli really is nice)!

Today is Slumberhouse Kiste.

I've had my sample set of Rogue Perfumery's fragrances for just under a year now, and I still haven't gotten anywhere close to finishing it, despite testing the fragrances quite a bit. I'm still not sure how I feel about them, which is why I still haven't used my 30 mL of Mousse Illuminee yet.

After wearing Jasmin Antique to bed yesterday, today's choice is Bon Monsieur. While it is a nice scent overall, the pine note smells very chemical-y and it comes across as an air freshener type of scent. The same kind of note is felt in Fougere L'Aube, though that one is a bit more pleasant. While I appreciate most of these fragrances, they're definitely overhyped and not what they're cracked out to be. They all have a cheap scratchiness, though the prominence of this effect varies between each scent.

I still like Mousse Illuminee, but I'm not sure I believe the hype anymore.

Right. Like, they're not bad, but I remember when I sampled Mousse Illuminee, I felt like, "...that's it?"

My favorites from him are Mousse, Champs Lunieres, Chypre-Siam, Flora and Fauna, and Tabac Vert. They are better than most designers IMO, and priced well.

Whats you opinion about Azzaro Pour Home edt?. Its a nice mans fragance but nothing special for myself. It could be a classic, but I find it some kind of basic.

Tobacco Mandarin.

I've decided it is more rosy than anything. I like it but I guess I am still searching for a tobacco and ideally citrus scent.

Chypre-Siam is my favourite, but I like Mousse and Bon Monsieur as well. I feel that several of the really small indie brands that are suddenly discovered and hyped up (Rogue, Meleg, Slumberhouse, Fazzolari etc) are uneven. Still amazing that they sometimes create wonderful scents with such small resources.

Which Slumberhouse fragrances do you like? I’ve been interested in them for a while, but I don’t know where to start. It seems samples are hard to come by.
