40-50 probably. Never more than 100ml. Hundreds of samples 1-10 ml.

Wish that more brands would make 15ml bottles like Heeley does. Perfect size.

I love it when brands make travel sizes or even the 40ml bottles that Dior makes for their higher end line. At this point, I go for the smallest size I can justify given how much I think I'll want to wear a fragrance. The travel sizes are good for fragrances that I'm initially unsure of exactly how much I like. I was initially really grossed out by Musc Ravageur, but one day I decided there was something interesting about it that made me crave it. After buying a travel spray and finding myself wearing it a lot, I ended up buying the 50ml bottle.

I really wish Dior's Paris exclusives were available in at least 125ml bottles, but no. That's why I have Mitzah and Vetiver in 250ml bottles.

I have certainly tightened my criteria for purchases. I don't have to own every fragrance I like, however limited batches of stuff made by very good artisans (ie Areej) I will buy. I have found certain types of fragrances I reach for more often so I'm good with smaller rotations of those for summer/winter. I have many I won't repurchase, not because they are bad, just because I don't find myself super excited to spray them. That said, I tend to prefer larger bottles simply because I think the bottle design is more attractive in general.

Just picked up my first TF yesterday - the now discontinued Private Collection Beau de Jour.

A very well done fougere. Have sampled a lot of TF in-stores, and had not yet been inspired enough to purchase.

Although BdJ was only released in 208/19, LVMH already phased it out and has re-released it in the Signature line, with the new round, gold, ribbed glass flacon - and sounds like it underwent a reformulation.

Strongly disagree with you on this one. I find the newer version to be equally competent. I really didn't find a noticeable difference from the Private Blend edition, and I think people sometimes don't realize the huge bias that the repackaging of a fragrance creates on one's opinions.

You can disagree with me if you want, but I am not saying definitively it was reformulated - especially since I haven't even smelled the Signature line version. I based that statement on some trusted reviews only.

I assume that it was LVMH that made the decision to discontinue Italian Cypress and Plum Japonais, two of my favorite Private Blends. Just another example of a large conglomerate ruining a designer house after acquiring it.

I don't know why people keep saying LVMH. Tom Ford's beauty products are brought to market by Estée Lauder.

Also, Tom Ford has partnered with Estée Lauder since he launched his very first fragrances in the early 2000s, including Tuscan Leather and Oud Wood. You need laboratories and other infrastructure to produce fragrances - it makes sense to partner with companies that have that capability to produce.

Tom Ford still heads the design, naming, and invention of new fragrances. Sure, some get discontinued if they no longer sell well, but that's what happens when you experiment. Most of the best are still part of the collection and aren't going anywhere.
