Just picked up my first TF yesterday - the now discontinued Private Collection Beau de Jour.

A very well done fougere. Have sampled a lot of TF in-stores, and had not yet been inspired enough to purchase.

Although BdJ was only released in 208/19, LVMH already phased it out and has re-released it in the Signature line, with the new round, gold, ribbed glass flacon - and sounds like it underwent a reformulation.

My wife wears this a lot. The initial pineapple blast is a little too much, but once that settles a bit it's a really nice scent.
I love it. It's definitely a bit weird at the opening, but it ends up coming together wonderfully.

Today is my favorite rose: Profumum Roma Note di Profumum Meraviglia.

So many people talk about how great Portrait of a Lady is, but I find Portrait of a Lady to be extremely overrated given how terrible the drydown is. This, though, is awesome.

Oh man. I got a sample from a sales rep in Paris, and I managed to leak it out into my coat pocket after going through the bag disposal at the airport. Not a pleasant journey, as I wasn't able to change clothes!

I hate that scent...

Having tried both, I'd say the Private Collection version is a bit heavier on the patchouli, but otherwise I prefer the newer one. The re-release was because most TF in that collection are centred around specific notes, and this one is more of a 'whole fragrance,' if that makes sense.

That said, the newer ribbed version is one of my most complimented fragrances by far. It's not even my absolute favourite, but something about it seems to work with my chemistry I guess.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely go sample the the new version. Realized that the Wafts from the Loft gents had a pretty glowing Youtube review of the newer version, and they're not the type to hype designer stuff at all.

Surprised to see Nordstrom is having a discount on all Estee Lauder fragrances currently, including TF.

Really? Nice, I might have to stock up on a few now.

Yeah, it's really a very nice and straightforward fougere either way. It's not easy to make a modern fougere without being routine, but the PB and Signature both do this very well.

Strange...this morning I'm not seeing the discount on Nordstrom's site. It was there as of late yesterday. It was designated as a "Price Match" sale and 15% off across the board.

how many full sized bottles does everyone have? i'm at...I wanna say 5 or 6. i ask because every time i debate sampling new scents, i feel like i should try and use up what i have first (this is maybe irrational)

I assume you're talking about any and all fragrances...um, I would guess about 50-60, not including back up boxes of stuff I'm holding to either sell of use later.

Probably like 35 of the stuff in rotation. That's not counting vintage stuff I just collect and don't really wear. If you include those I guess maybe 60?

I have around 27 that are travel spray sized and then another 40 to 50 that are bottles sized from 50ml to 250ml (with the exception of the Slumberhouses, which only come in 30ml).

If I like the fragrance enough to wear it often, I buy it in a bottle. Default full size bottles will vary by brand - I prefer Tom Ford in 50ml, both because the bottles are just the right size for spraying and because to me they look better aesthetically. I do have several others in 100ml though.

Right now it's around 12-14 full bottles for me, and tons of samples. I'd have more, but I'm picky with what I want to use more regularly.

Follow up on the sale that disappeared overnight. I spoke to a Nordy SA and apparently they are now running "price match" sales when Macy's runs a sale. Who knew? It expired yesterday.

Yes, they didn't seem to have anything when I dropped by earlier. Oh well. Picked up a bottle of Fougere D'Argent anyway.
