Never tried it or heard of it! Neat. I remember having Tova Borgnine... a scent made by Ernest's wife. It really wasn't bad, believe it or not.

    SOTD Diorella.

I rarely endorse blind buying but Rach (and others into old lady french perfumes), I highly recommend reading up on Theo Fennel's Scent. If you like florals with a bit of funk, this one's pretty solid. Especially when you can get it for cheap.

Wow, somehow Theo Fennel Scent had completely flown under my radar. It's available at Surrender To Chance, so I'll definitely get a sample of it. Thanks for the heads up.

I am wearing Lavender Palm today, believe it or not. (There's no reason you should not believe it. I wouldn't lie about such a thing.)

Today I'm wearing a random sample that's turned out to be very good indeed. Terryfic Oud by Terry de Gunzburg. I think he does makeup. But anyway, this is a REALLY nice oud. It's got the smoking wood notes, the dry dusty funky BO side, some soft florals and berries. I will say there's a strong cumin note so you have to like that, but let's say if you like Lutens MKK, MFK Absolute Soir, and L'Artisan Al Aoud, this is worth a sniff. Very long lasting, and decent sillage.

Tonight I put Kolnisch Juchten on top of whatever Avignon I had lingering. I bet I smell like a Knights Templar.

Byredo Bullion today. Perhaps a bit more autumnal than vernal, but I do enjoy a bit of leather now and then.

Do you think Bullion is especially leathery? I remind it as a very "creamy" scent. If I find my sample, I'll wear it today.

Edit: Couldn't find it (I'm about to reorganize my samples/decants). SotD is Rive Gauche (pour femme).

Today I'm lining up a comparison between Armani Privee Bois D'Encense, CdG Avignon, and Montale Full Incense. Why do I have a hunch I'm going to just buy all 3? :embar:

Today: Chergui - Strong shit, this fragrance is. It reminds me of Dzing! sans the leather and petrol component.

Ah, the Lutens Syrup. Chergui was THE scent on basenotes back in 2006-2007. You couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a huge fan. Of course, BN in the "good" old days was like that. PdN NY preceded Chergui. Tauer followed just after.

re: Lutens, I never could find one that really HIT me... and I must have tried a dozen or more ("tried" meaning had at least 10-15mls in a decant or bottle before empty or swapping away).

Best/most original of the lot was probably Miel de Bois (stinky bees) though it had a horrible drydown, worst was Santal Blanc (Marlene Dietrich meets Bobcat Goldthwaite) though it had nothing from start to finish that I could stand. MKK wasn't nearly as offensive as people tried to warn, and Fumerie Turque and Cuir Mauresque not nearly so original as many tried to pretend. I'd take Derby or Knize Ten over the latter, especially given the price.

    SOTD: Malle Parfum de Therese.
