1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Today I'm wearing Oriza L. LeGrand Chypre-Mousse. Its a terrific earthy green oak moss & vetiver fragrance. If you like green fragrances (and I do).

My wife, unfortunately for me, hates it. She seems very sensitive to oak moss. She reacted very negatively to Bel Ami, also. I decided not to wear that one, but this one is too good not to wear once in a while. Have to choose my spots. [IMG]

Gone But Not from the Phoenicia sample pack. This one is a a traditional - even old fashioned - floral. The notes say rose, jasmine, elemi, fruits, cognac and musk. I get the rose and jasmine, and the musky base. I don't get fruit or boozy notes. I don't know what elemi smells like but I get a kind of industrial note or maybe lipstick or chalky powder. The perfumer has described it as having a touch of "hairspray." Anyway, I like it. It's a bit more perfumey that I usually go for but the musk note is dirty and really holds it all together and keeps it from being overly heady.

    Right wrist= MFK Oud.

    Left wrist= Memo Sham's Oud.

A case of clean oud versus dirty oud. Very interesting contrast. I think the clean oud by MFK is a bit more wearable. One day I will try a Jekyll and Hyde version by spraying each version on me, and see what reactions I get.

Trialling a sample of Fico di Amalfi today. Not too bad; perhaps just a tad on the sweet side for a humid summer's day.

Yeah, I love the PG Iris Oriental and think that those who smell such a high quality fragrance then they wouldn't be so ga-ga over Dior Homme.

    Today: Dior Vetiver.

Today: Tubereuse Criminelle - It will be in the high 60s today and the crazy weather has made the trees - plum, cherry, and tulip magnolia - all blossom two months early.

    Welcome to SOTD!

I am bringing an old-school elegance to the people of St. Louis today by wearing Vol de Nuit.

I've enjoyed Tobacco Oud quite a bit. Lots of similarities to Tobacco Vanille.

Blenheim Bouquet. Starts as a sharp lemon+pine; and after the lemon fades, it continues as a sharp pine+pepper.
Not a bad scent, but the sharp pine is a little too close to pine sol, for me. Prefer the pine blended with other notes, a la Eloge du Traitre.

Today: since the plum trees have already started blooming in full (along with the tulip magnolias) due to the schizophrenicly warm weather, I am wearing Yoru no Ume from Parfum Satori.

    Yoru no Ume

SOTD Atelier Cologne Gold Leather. A powerhouse that keeps going and going all day long. Definitely a no go on a warm day.
