Rainy / foggy in Austin today. Wearing Oud Wood.
This morning: L'Artisan Mon Numero 10. It's a skanky leather.
Ooooh, new L'Artisan! I'm listening. What do you think?
the Hermès didn't last too long. So I applied some Chanel PM before I left. For the evening, TFPB - TV.
Hermès - Calèche. Heavy on the aldehydes. Overall good, not my cup of tea in general though.
Chanel PM again. Very prominent note of anise in the opening. Great scent overall.
TFPB - Purple Patchouli for the evening.
For the first hour it's got this creosote and vanilla aspect. Now, hours later, it dries down to a sweet vanilla, amber, and slight wood base. I love leathers but this is too sweet for me.
Chergui for me today.
Just thought about how I didn't wear any SL in a long time. Well, cold season is knocking at the door, so here we go.
Went back to that shop, picked up that Parure and he also had a bunch of other goodies in the back - 1 oz of Shalimar parfum ($30), an old vintage 1 oz bottle of Habit Rouge ($10), 2.5 oz of Mitsouko EDP ($30) and 50 ml of Vol De Nuit edt ($30). Score! He has other stuff I passed on for now, including some kind of gift/commemorative 100 ml bottle of Angeliques Noire EDP with a beautiful bottle and sprayer. What's the story with that one? I hadn't heard of it.
Nice score. Wish I knew more about Angeliques Noire, though. I probably know someone who likes it.
Today, TF Grey Vetiver.
It's part of the "L'Art et la Matière"-series (just available in Paris?!). They focus on single notes -- Double Vanille, Tonka Imperiale, ... I have a .5ml sample of each from STC. Have you tried Angelique Noire? It's not really my cup of tea (but it's not bad). FWIW, it's not the usual Guerlain-esque style.
Quite heavy but still a little crisp.
I'm really bad at describing parfums but now I just had an inspiration (somwhat). Do you know Mariage Frères' Marco Polo tea? The general vibe is similar. Just not the Marco Polo flavors on top of the black tea but angelique plus some citrus and some sweetnes (tonka/vanilla/whatever).
hmmm. is it long lasting?
Wearing Parure today. I like it, not sure if I love it. It's reminding me of Aramis 900/Lauder Aromatics Elixir. Not as dry, but similar character.
I wore Vol de Nuit last night - that one I do love. It would be nice to have the parfum but the edt is fine and I get the feeling that it's an older formulation. I think most of the bottle I picked up were from the 80's or thereabouts, though the Parure and Mitsouko may newer than the other stuff (just judging from the look of the bottles.)
Have you tried the new Seville a L'Aube? It's very much in keeping with the L'Artisan line, IMO.
I'm still wearing the Chergui I applied about 18 hours ago. (I've been airplanes and trains since yesterday afternoon.) It is still going strong!
I came across this article which is rather informative, if a tad old.
