Been thinking of trying Aramis for a while, but I could never justify buying it, since I always found it similar to Antaeus. How do you like it? Is it similar to Antaeus in the heart and drydown?

I've been wearing a bunch of ELDO scents lately. This has always been one of my favorite houses, but I haven't worn them a lot over the last few months. I figured I'd try my old nemesis Vraie Blonde as my bedtime scent tonight. I only made it about ten minutes before I had to scrub it off. I think I'm done trying to appreciate this one.

I like the logo for this perfume:

You have been on a ELDO kick recently. I need to get a sample of Jasmine et Cigarette and try it - I think that would be my best introduction to this house.

I don't find it all that close to Antaeus, which to me is really set apart by the beeswax note. The only thing that ever really reminded me of Antaeus is Bel Ami, and only in the later stages of each. Aramis is good, but it's very much of it's era. It's a brash spicy leathery man scent. I'd only wear it with a very light hand.

I think there's also a good chance you'd really like Rien.

Pre-shower: 100% Love. It's hard for me to imagine even a single person in the whole world enjoying this.

Thanks for the info. I wear both Bel Ami and Antaeus and can certainly see a similarity there. I actually picked up Antaeus when I couldn't find a replacement bottle of Bel Ami. I didn't realize Aramis was so strong, but now I will have to try it the next time I see it. The leather and spice combo sounds good.

Sure does. Not that I'd have recent recollections of that sort of thing: last bottle I finished was around '96 or so.

Today, a decant from a friend: Humiecki & Graef Askew. Pretty off-beat scent - bergamot, lavender, mint, incense, and I can't place the rest. Heavily synthetic, kind of bathroom-cleaneresque. Very cold-smelling. I kind of like it, although a full bottle is not in my future.

So I'm just starting to experiment with different scents. Wearing my old standby of Green Irish Tweed today, but I'm looking to start branching out. Just ordered some Aramis samples. Really looking forward to trying Havana, among others.

Recently tried some samples of Givenchy Play and Play Intense which I'm really liking. However, judging by the reviews I've seen of many Givenchy fragrances I'm guessing there are better options out there. I'm liking the Play Intense for it's coffee, vanilla and spicy notes, and also because it seems to last an eternity on me (12+ hours). Any recommendations for something in the same vein that will have similar longevity?

^ try Rochas Man. That one's quite good and a relative bargain.
