I'm gonna go one step further and say that ambergris doesn't come from humpback whales either. Unless that wasn't their intent but could have used a picture of a bighorn sheep just as easily.

It might be a well-crafted scent, I don't know, but I just can't take that much cedar. Plus it's not one of the genres of fragrance that I typically like. I scrubbed it off and replaced it with Aventus, which I like much better than the other two Creeds I wore today. Wish Aventus had better longevity though.

EDIT: @ HORNS--Maybe the humpback whale is leaping away in disdain from a man, or perhaps another humpback whale, who did not know that amber and ambergris were two different notes. Sort of like how the "Do Not Want" dog is abruptly reversing course to get a way from the thing or person it does not want. (Unfortunately, the humpback whale is not making a funny face, or at least one that we can see.)

So true! I wore Shalimar yesterday. I think I'll wear No. 19 tomorrow as part of this challenge.

I tried a sample of 10 Corso Como today. Kinda woody spice which I liked, but the dry back was a little too funky/ sweet for me.

Yeah, not a fan. That funky/sweet you are referring to is contained by Oud 27 in spades but just doesn't seem to work in this concoction - it's almost as if you either go all out with it or if not it then is perceived as a flaw like fruit that is just beginning to rot.

Today: CDG Avignon, and contemplating a backup bottle I found on the (relatively) cheap.

I've been liking this more and more lately. Do you get the bread note in this? I never got it until I'd worn it three or four times, and then all of a sudden it was right there. It's interesting how we can have Gestalt shifts in our olfactory perception.

Dior Homme for me today. This absolutely lives up to all the hype I've seen about it among online perfumistas. And yes, the top really does smell like lipstick. I've seen advocates try to deny it, but there's no way to do it.

Well, now that you say it, there is indeed some kind of bread. I like it a lot, too, FWIW. There is some white musk in it, too, isn't it?

No joke. Every time I've tried it I get Lipstick + Coca Puffs.

    ..

Today, a cold, rainy, grey miserable (wonderful) day of getting soaked yet again, but I am not by any means upset or despondent - largely because everyone's talking about this summer being a worse drought than last summer. What do you wear on cold, wet, rainy days?

    CDG Avignon.

I've always got that lipstick note from DH as well.

All this talk about ambergris reminds me that I have a little bottle of Madini ambergris, which I sometimes layer with scents. Honestly, it's a very, very subtle scent, and I often don't notice it in conjunction with other scents. On it's own it's definitely interesting - a bit briny and animalistic and damp - but fleeting.
