    I think you picked a very good set of fragrances to sample. It's just that whether a fragrance is good and whether it's something you personally enjoy are two different questions.

    Yeah, I don't think I picked any particularly bad fragrance - that's not what I meant. Just a few that I don't like on me (but by now I more or less know what I like and don't like.. more or less..). I'm glad I ordered that much from Malle - they seem to be very solid and nice.

    So.. you might have overread what I wrote so here I go again: The drydown of French Lover reminds me a lot of the drydown of Lys Méditeranée. Only difference was that the lily is a little more prominent in Lys Méditeranée. Have you experienced something similar?

    Oh, sorry for the miscommunication there. I didn't actually think you meant that. I just meant to say that sampling is a crapshoot, which you obviously already know!

    I actually haven't tried either French Lover or Lys Mediteranee. :embar:


    Your roommate must have really excellent soap!

    ^ Oh. You don't like lily? Actually I don't love it that much, but it seems to work in Lys Méditeranée and certainly in French Lover. Gotta give it a try!
    And, FWIW, I didn't think that you thought that I meant that. :fistbump:

    I actually do like lily quite a bit. My sampling is really unthematic, though; if I see people taking a lot about something here or on BN, I give it a try. I don't often sample by note, even for notes I like. (Except for rose.) I'll have to give those a try.

    Bond's got 2 new fragrances out - Amber and Andy Warhol (I know, I know). God help me, but the Amber smells pretty good.

    Saks, Bloomies, some Niemans IIRC, and a few botique shops

    Saks is your best bet

    Habit Rouge. This just keeps getting better and better. I wish I hadn't put off trying this for so long.

    Santal Blush. I love this stuff. The top is okay, but once it gets to the heart it's just fantastic.
