I asked for a sample via mail and received one two days later.
Oh, wright is gone. Well, it was fun while it lasted. We'll miss you.
What, of Sycomore?
Yes. Was there some awkward ambiguity I'm not aware of?
Are you talking to me? If so, where did you get your sample? I want one too!
The ambiguity, while not awkward, is in your posts not containing my quote, which makes me wonder if you are indeed talking to me.
Horny - go to any Chanel store or special in-store counter (the mini boutiques inside Saks or Niemans, sometimes Bloomies) (or call first if you're smart) and they'll give you a shitload of all the samples.
I e-mailed them. There actually is a Chanel store here in Hamburg, they've sent me one.
My pre-shower scent was Sycomore. I've worn this probably eight times now, but my opinion has stayed pretty much the same: I respect it, but don't really enjoy it. I think anyone who's a big fan of vetiver would like it a lot.
Divine by Divine today.
Kilian - A Taste of Heaven. Liked it a little better than last time. Very intense - one of the few scents that I regularly smell myself (without sniffing at my wrist, just from my "throat").
Edit: Do you get notes of lily in the late drydown of Sycomore, too, L'Incandescent?
SL A La Nuit. A very indolic jasmine. I've been trying out different jasmines lately, even though I've never been a big fan of the note. Last night I wore Love and Tears, which also puts the jasmine front and center. The Lutens takes some of the edge off the jasmine with some honey and benzoin in the base. That really helps, but I still don't like it a lot.
My opinion has evolved into this same direction, but I love vetiver. To me, Sycomore is less about vetiver than it is about a certain style of perfume. I like the more earthy vetivers, and Sycomore is much more refined, buttoned up, and a bit perfumey.
Malle - French Lover. Late drydown reminds me a lot of Lys Méditeranée with a little less prominent lily... I like it.
+1 I completely agree with you both. At first I loved Sycomore, but now I find I just use it as a safe scent. I'm not a big vetiver fan though.
That explains it then, since I really like Shalimar.
