Today, Amouage Dia (Homme). Starts pretty gentle, subdued, mildly interesting. Not bad. Now, three hours later it strongly resembles PdN Baladin, except with just enough spice and sunshine to make it worth sniffing. Or, if you prefer, a lighter, easier-wearing Azuree / Aramis.

As with Goldilocks and the three Bears:

    Azuree: too loud
    Baladin: too boring
    Dia Homme: just right.

Too bad it costs and arm and a leg.

    Interesting, interesting.

    Trust me, I was/am shocked.

I don't know what you're referring to: I detest SM and I have no plans to try it. [IMG]

Thanks M-C and Thomas for the offers. I don't want anything else on my plate for the next week or so, but I will come calling eventually. As for today - PdN Vetyver - very light and gone (to my nose at least) within an hour. Meh.

Sticking with the vetiver theme, SMN vetiver today. I would actually consider this a very accurate representation of vetiver. Very earthy grass. I think I'm just coming around to the fact that I really don't like vetiver all that much.

    Same here.

Too hot to wear anything today so I went bareback.

I used to limit my barebacking to warm-weather days too, but I've discovered that it's a good option in many different meteorological conditions. The trick is just not to overdo it.

Le Labo should pay you! You're such a committed advocate for this fragrance!

Rose 31 really is an excellent fragrance, though. I was looking over Turin and Sanchez's Perfume Guide the other day and noticed that they gave it one star. I was shocked. I don't wear Rose 31 a lot because it just doesn't feel like "me." But I can't imagine someone denying that it's a great fragrance.

I'm not sure I'd call Rose 31 dark, though. C&S No. 88 and Dark Rose are darker roses. Also Montale Black Aoud.

I've said it before but I hate Rose 31 - I put my two decants into the sample box and sent them away. I find it to be a thin, harsh black pepper scent with hardly any rose at all.

I just got back from a short trip to NYC and I only brought Knize Ten, so I wore it the last 5 days. Absolutely love it. I loved it before, too, but now I think I need to find a full bottle (just have a decant now).

You're certainly in good company in disliking Rose 31! For whatever reason, the harsh pepper note that stands out so much for you is only there at the very top for me. I would actually describe Rose 31 as a sandalwood fragrance. I agree that there's hardly any rose.

I know that "just a guy with an opinion" Luca Turin compared Rose 31 to carrot juice. I'd agree with him if he was right, but he isn't - not in this case. In 90% of the other reviews he's pretty spot on.

Count me in the "like" Rose 31 camp. I don't love it as much as Willpower and L'incandescent but its pretty damn good still. I'm sticking with L'Artisan Voleur de Roses as my favorite rose scent for now.

Today...a blast from the past: Chanel Antaeus. I had Egoiste in hand, but decided to wear something I'd not worn in a while.
