Chanel PM, huh? I'll have to give it a try. I could imagine the ad execs on Mad Men wearing BDP.

ehm: I've heard it's been reformulated in the past year. Not sure how close it is now and haven't gotten around to checking for myself.

It's only at Barney's or at Frederic Malle. You can get a tester from Paris if you email them. Check their website.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Explains why I've gotten nowhere in my pursuit.

As a side not, I've been meaning to try Musc Ravageur for months now and for the life of me cannot find this damn cologne anywhere.

Tried it not long ago at Barney's. My nose smelled powdered Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix and cinnamon - the drydown, at least.

Thanks for the info. I ended up getting a couple testers from Baron's recommendation so we shall see.

    Had Penhaligon's LP 9 yesterday.
At least I smell the rests of it today.

I've always wondered about that one, isn't it discontinued? Speaking of, I still scratch my head at the lemming-like behavior of perfumistas to chase wildly after a discontinued scent: if it was all that great in the first place, why didn't you get a bottle while it was in production?

Today: TGQ Cavendish Black. Very, very much a pipe tobacco.

Terre D'Hermes today. Not sure how I feel about this one in cool weather. Hoping it shines a little more in spring/summer as some say it does.

It's hit-or-miss for me at times. I know some other folks quite like it.

Today: John Varvatos, a friendly, easy-wearing scent.

I love wearing stuff that I completely forgot I owned. Today it was Adidas Victory League, which is the best <$20 scent ever IMO.

Do you guys actually get complimented on the way you smell? (0)

I wear "SF-/BN-approved" scents daily and work in close quarters with dozens of people. I honestly can't recall the last time somebody other than my girl complimented me on smelling good. (She likes Allure Sport and could care less about anything else.)

    I figure, either:

    a) my BO rapidly overtakes my fragrance
    b) I'm not applying enough for my skin-chemistry/environment
    c) everyone around me finds Terre, Rive Gauch, Egoiste, M7, GIT, etc. foul
    d) people are too afraid to pay compliments about something seemingly feminine
    e) I'm getting old and senile

Please tell me it is "b".

I'm really beginning to think that, like everything else here at SF (shoes, ties, denim, etc.), nobody else cares and we're simply pleasing ourselves. I'm totally okay with this epiphany, but I'm not okay with smelling bad.

Edit: FWIW, I never get told I smell bad either. Also, I'm not living in a bubble.

I get compliments but generally only after a hug or kiss greeting from a female friend. I don't usually were enough scent to project into a room.

I vote 'd'. Most folks aren't going to compliment you on how you smell, and their tastes are what they are. If you're wearing a scrubber - you'll know it.
