Baccarat Rouge 540

Very sweet with a strong cedar base. Not sure what all the fuss is about.
Yup me too!

Btw update: tried le lion by chanel. Finally. Bought it then and there and I do understand where all the fuss is about. It immediately became my favourite scent.

Went to the Floris shop in London and got a chance to try sandalwood based perfumes. I have been looking for one. I picked up the Santal. I really liked it.

Carved Oud by Thameen

It’s like a more mild oud probably due to veitiver and some sweetness. It’s ok.

I was lucky enough to find Santal on sale on the QM2 when I did a crossing last May, and was very happy to have acquired it - a useful variant on Floris Elite, which I've worn for decades.

I tried the Leather Oud and Sandalwood as well which were a bit distracting for me - they didn't have the Santal Intense.

LeLion and Coromandel are amazing
I'm with you, both are amazing, but LeLion won me over because if felt so 'vintage' and at the same time so new. I cannot put it into words. I wore it yesterday and today I had to quickly wear the same sweater and I still could smell it. Lasts long, projection is good, even for the price I think it's a pretty good p/q. I certainly have other parfum that costs more and doesn't last and project like lelion.

Parisian Musc by Matière Première

This one I like. It has a good balance of cedar and cream.

Carved Oud by Thameen. Another winner for me.

It smells like a weaker, more gentle, maybe fresher, oud fragrance. It smells more wood than oud to me.

Penhaligons Dandy. Thought it smelled like movie theater buttered popcorn when I first smelled it but it's growing on me.

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
