Kilian Apple Brandy today. The new Apple Brandy on the Rocks is not bad, but not on the same level as the old one. Lucky you can still find the old stuff online.

Last night I pulled out one I hadn't worn in a long time. One of my favorite "oud" based fragrances, Oud Imperial Extrait de Parfum from Perris Monte Carlo, composed by Luca Maffei. Of course, not in the same league as Ensar or ALD, but was the first niche oud fragrance I fell in love with.

A little dab is all it takes for this one. Almost nuclear in strength. Incredibly well done, deep, dry and not a warm weather scent or for the faint of heart. Stunning if you love patchouli, labdanum, balsam and cypriol infused ambers, camphorous, and slightly leathery. A few streaks of light stream through with hints of restrained cedar, saffron, sandalwood. A scent that seems perfect if seeking warmth inside an old, stone cathedral.

Vintage Royal Bain de Champagne today, from when it was still called Champagne and not Caron. It's lovely, but if I want a more dandyfied fragrance I think troisieme homme is even better.

Well, apparently FedEx have my Perfumed Court samples, because they just contacted me to say that they tried to deliver to my (closed) workplace on 12th January, and that they are going to send them back on Wednesday. So they waited ten days to give me 48 hours notice... nice. I immediately responded with a request for delivery to my home address, but of course... no response. All of these delivery companies are useless unless you're paying corporate rates.

Sultan Pasha's Basmati Rose from a sample. Very nostalgic for someone like me who grew up in an Indian household. For those of you who don't know, basmati rice is very fragrant when it's cooking, and it's easy to associate it with homemade meals with the family. I'm not usually into gourmands, but this is an unconventional and beautiful one. I might not wear it again, though, because it also makes me hungry.

Everything I have smelled from him is amazing, but I refuse to buy attars. I think there are rumors that he is collaborating with Russian Adam on a release that's coming out next month. I'm very curious.
