Wearing Atlantic Ambergris by Areej le Dore today, incidentally. It's a soft cloud of pine and spice, cardamom and clove. I don't notice much development over several hours, unfortunately, and wouldn't say I have a good nose for ambergris so I'm not really sure if I'm noticing it. Nothing particularly oceanic or salty about this. Sadly, I also don't get the jasmine or white floral. Disappointed, really.

Tried malle's noir epices today. I dislike it.

Yeah, Noir Epices turns too powdery for me.

I know Noir Epices is polarizing, but I really don't get the reasons why so. I really like it, and it just doesn't smell to me the way you guys describe it. To me it smells like one of those oranges with the cloves stuck in all around. I get ripe orange, clove, more spices, maybe a little rose. I don't get any powder. I guess I shouldn't be surprised - I've had this experience with other scents, where certain notes dominate my experience and others disappear.

Went to Marshall's today looking for Thierry Mugler Pure Malt, which I vaguely remember being there a few weeks ago. Didn't find it, but did find a 5 oz. bottle of Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP selling for sub-Notino prices, and quickly snapped it up. Not the most original scent, but a "dumb reach" for the fall and winter.

Interesting. I don't get that at all - like, none of that. I almost can't even discern individual notes, I just get something overwhelmingly powdery.

I will say that I liked it better 4 hours later, and as usual, I'll try it again.

Scent of Saturday night is Balenciaga Ho Hang Club--patch, tobacco, fruit and flowers on a musk-moss base.

Tried Ormonde Jayne's Nawab of Oudh again today. It's a great fragrance with a citrus opening and sort of spicey-floral base (but not rose). The oud is so ... absent .... though. Or if it's present, you really can't detect it. A warm, spicy floral that's really nice, but feels neither here nor there in terms of seasonality. Good, but also safe and not terribly compelling.

Finally cooled off enough to allow me to wear Amouage Interlude Man today.
