@HORNS I haven't actually tried it but I might try to find a sample. I have the worst luck with Diptyque frags though - both Philosykos and Eau Duelle gave me the worst headaches I've ever experienced. There's something in both that doesn't agree with me at all.

Today was a cool summer, typical San Francsisco day, so I wore a beauty I rarely pull out: Santa Maria Novella Tabacco Toscano.

Big fan of the Tobacco Toscano candle- one of the only candles I purchase consistently

Some more FM lately:

Bigarde Concentree: Easy-to-wear green citrus. Opening is a very strong, bitter orange, but that bitterness goes away after a few minutes. Mid and base are basically green, grassy notes mixed with orange. A bit of spice in the background. Nice for hot days, although the orange notes sometimes feel a bit pulpy.

Angeliques Sous La Pluie: Really nice blend of cedar, pepper, coriander, and floral notes. The floral keeps this from feeling too harsh. Better suited to rainy days, but tonight felt cool enough to wear this. Kind of reminds me of Declaration? Really like the scent, but I wish it lasted longer on my skin. Almost disappears after an hour or two.

I like Bigarade Concentree. If you haven't had a chance, you should smell Eau d'Hermes, and Cartier Declaration. The former was done by Roudnitzka in 1951, and Elena made Declaration as a kind of homage, or modern take on the the citrus + dirty spice/B.O./leather accord, and I think Bigarade Concentree is Elena's "second draft" on the idea. I think Declaration is my favorite of the three, but all of them are great.

^^ I agree, except that Eau d'Hermes is my favorite of the three. I'd be a really big fan of Bigarade Concentree if the B.O. funkiness at the top persisted longer into the drydown.

I'm wearing Sahara Noir today. It's a warm, sweet, churchy incense with a healthy dose of labdanum. I think it has been discontinued, which is a shame. When it first came out lots of people said it was a replacement for Amber Absolute, which had recently been discontinued. But to me they are not all that similar, and it's perfectly reasonable to own both.

Thanks, Baron! I'll have to try Eau d'Hermes. I have and like Declaration, although I think I like Bigarade Concentree a bit better. It smells like it has less cumin? Felt a bit more distinctively summer-y to me, although I haven't compared them side by side yet.

Eau Noire by Dior. Lavender, curry, and maple syrup. Not ideal for summer, but I felt like wearing it anyway.

TF Venetian Bergamot. A very pleasant, sweet white floral with a bit of pepper and something quite indolic in the background. It's been one of my favorites in the TF lineup since I first tried it.

Dior Bois D'Argent today, which is also kind of out of season. Iris, honey, and a bit of powder. Sometimes it smells like a warm glass of milk; other times it smells like fresh laundry drying outside on a line. Every so often, however, there's this slightly mildewy note in there that comes through. At times, this can smell like the freshest scent in the world, but sometimes it also smells like a clean t-shirt that's been sitting in a drawer for too long.

I remember being really into the Dior line last winter, but everything feels a bit too funky to me now. Maybe because it's spring. Frederic Malle's l'eau d'Hiver feels similar to Bois D'Argent, but it's brighter and friendlier. A bit more floral, obviously iris, and easy to wear.

Speaking of Malle, I'm wearing En Passant again today, which has become - for whatever reason - one of my favorites.

Today I wore Alt Innsbruck aftershave - I really enjoy this when I wear it. This evening I'm wearing Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur.

Putain des Palaces by ELDO. It's a violet, ricey makeup scent that's also a bit dirty.
