1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I am wearing the most underappreciated of all the Tom Ford scents today. I am talking about Moss Breches.

I can't explain it because I feel exactly as you do. The old-school Polo is long gone, though, with the current stuff being quite shitty. So if you want an analogue of the past, then Italian Cypress it is.

It's exactly how I would describe IC. It's a throwback homage to the days of Polo (vintage). So the rich spices, pine, herbs, leather, wood, maybe some beeswax, etc. I find it rich and complex and wears really nicely. A great all round easy to wear and enjoy scent. Are there many from the original era in the same ballpark, probably, I guess there's that Halston one etc but for me, especially with decant pricing it's worth it.

Tom of Finland. A person hugged me and then hugged me a second time so's to get another smell of my SOTD (which was Tom of Finland, as I mentioned a moment ago).

That wasn’t because of your SOTD, surely?

The person said it was because of my SOTD. Maybe she was just using that as a pretext.

Invasion Barbare. I am retesting this to check if my skin really does react to it. (Given that it used to react to IC but now doesn’t).

Yeah, I really prefer LIDGE, although L’Instant is pretty good as well.

Idole EDP. Went to the football and Melbourne kicked arse for a change, so I think I’d better make Idole my sig from now on.

    ^Solid fragrance. Good qpr, IIRC!

SotD: Olfactive Studio - Autoportrait. Just applied it. Starts off creamy and woodsy (cedar!). Balsamic is a good description too. Incense & vetiver. The notes according to fragrantica are spot-on. So far, it smells well-crafted but a bit boring.

I'm also making my way through samples from M-C. Agree with you on Italian Cypress and Plum Japonais. Neroli Portofino is in this category for me as well. Tobacco Oud is a bit too aggressively masculine for me, although I can appreciate how well done it is. On the other end, I find Champaca Absolute and Cafe Rose too feminine to wear. Patchouli Absolu smells like a dirty version of Italian Cypress to me -- the Wall Street banker has loosened his tie and had a few drinks after work. Noir de Noir deserves more investigation and thought.

It's in the 50s here and foggy, so I'm wearing Montale Aoud Cuir d'Arabie.
