Scarf with no jacket?

The other day, it was chilly out but not cold enough to wear a jacket. I was warm enough with a sweater on. I wanted to add an extra something to the look so I just threw on a scarf. I've never really worn a scarf with no jacket before. Is it fairly common practice?

I do it all the time. Scarf + sweater. There is a certain unexplainable feeling of freedom about walking around without a coat on a chilly fall or winter day...

I've worn a scarf with just a couple tshirts. It can work just fine. Caution: people will think you are gay.

Don't have a problem with a sweater or a jacket, but with a t-shirt? To me, it's along the same lines as wearng a winter beenie with a tank top; it's a useless garnish...

It was a long sleeve tshirt with a short sleeve tshirt, and the scarf was a light, loose weave wool scarf. More spring than real cold, but cool and windy enough for it not to be silly. That said, I do think a shortsleeve tshirt could, in rare circumstances and with the right scarf, look ok.

The best look is to go with the scarf, a sock on the johnson, and nothing else.

Well, if we all agreed, the world would be a pretty bland place

Heh. If that's not a damning lack of praise, I don't know what is.

If I had a camera and my stuff weren't all in California (and I weren't so mysterious and obscured), I'd take a picture to show you what I mean.

No, that was a sincere statement. I see that it can look sarcastic, but I didn't have a sarcastic thought in my head when I wrote it.

I rock the scarf and sweater with aplomb. Haters will hate, you can just get their girls (this will only work if the scarf is cashmere).

i feel like that a scarf with no jacket kind of screams "look at me, i care soo much about fashion." because i feel like it serves no function. just a personal opinion though

This is a pretty popular look in Finland. But I'm wondering what you guys think the proper scarf length is?

It's warm! But what it really screams is "I'm a classically-trained singer".
