Saw my jantzen shirt at saks last week

Seriously was a trip. A blue striped shirt (pretty unique triple stripe, so I'm sure it was the same fabric). It was a Collezioni shirt and was selling for $205 I think (with plastic buttons). Pretty funny stuff.

That's pretty cool. Do you recall which stripe pattern number it was on the Jantzen site? I'm (pleasantly) surprised to hear that some current season fabrics have made their way to Jantzen, I had always assumed they would be a couple seasons old.

I'm probably going to take the Jantzen plunge in the not too distant future. Has anyone tried matching up fabric, style with a known shirt from a particular designer? I was thinking of doing a Turnbull & Asser type shirt (fabric and style).

I did just that a few months ago. I found some pictures of T&A shirts on Ebay, chose some (for me relatively) outlandish striped patterns, sent the links to Jantzen and said "Make me some of these using my measurments on file."
Until then, I had used thick buttons with a double cuff.

What came back was imitation T&A. Thin buttons with 3 button cuffs....I have since compared them to (admittedly Made in Japan licensed) T&A shirts, and although most folks on this board could distinguish between mine and the real thing, I think that they would be idential to the lay person's eye.

If you go for contrasting collars and cuffs, you may want to consider specifiying what type of white fabric you want for them. I had assumed that they would be silky sea island 120's, but JT used a coarser fabric than that. On the other hand, the T&A shirts that I have seen here also seem to use tougher fabric on the cuffs and collars.
