1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

that was actually a very techinically advanced car at the time, and regarded by many as a design classic these days...

...I see quite a lot of these QX56 over here.

    I also saw a Nissan Patrol which was re-badged into a QX56...

The Mega Cruiser is Toyota's answer to the Hummer H1, and a civilianized military vehicle also. At least they put 4-wheel steering on them.

By my definition all SUV vehicles are butt ugly. That said, I'm going to need one up here in Washington and British Columbia. I wonder which is least butt ugly.

Still doesn't rescue it from the "butt-ugly" category.

I am beginning to lean towards "less is more" minimalist pilosophy re: SUV styling, as opposed to failed experimentations in modern design:

hence, seriously considering a Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe LTZ...never thought it would come down to looking at Chevys[IMG]

Sorry, Cayenne if fugly. Also, horrible cockpit IMO, very fugly there too. Are you planning on buying this SUV, RSS? Want long life with good reliability? Off-road, snow, etc? I would suggest Toyota Land Cruiser for this. Bullet proof, fairly modern tech all around, roomy, not jarring with its looks.

Interesting, the Land Cruiser is exactly what I've been thinking. I probably won't lease this one ... may even buy slightly used ... as this isn't meant to replace the "new car."

Drove a Land Cruiser for 14 years.
    Loved it.
I think the new ones are far more refined than the one I drove.

I loved the Cayenne S I drove for a week while my Carrera was being serviced.
Fantastic SUV. I guess I tend to like Porsche styling.

Well, that's really the thing. Styling is pretty much a matter of taste/opinion. There's no wrong answers, only what you do and do not like.

I had to rent one of these once. They tried to charge me "extra" because it was a "premium convertible".

I switched it the next day to a Dodge Charger and remembered that the Charger was tons of fun to drive. Surprisingly nimble too (especially for tight situations like parallel parking on steep San Francisco hills).
