quite by coincidence I came across one of the pages on the blog after googling for suggestions on pant colour combinations with a navy blue blazer, and turned up one with rust coloured pants. It must be me as many people raved about it, but to me it just didn't work.

YSL only did it because Stefano Pilati ran out of buttons at the show. The only times I wear a gold pin is when it's used to pin a collar together. However, it's supposed to be a part of British "Sloany" fashion, much like signet rings, and bespoke striped shirts:
