A double breasted jacket worn with denim jeans is a modern classic look with a particular masculine feel to it. We find Rubinacci blazers work the best for these type of outfits,so we styled three of their bespoke pieces with different type of denims to showcase the strength of this style. Camel cashmere/silk, cream cotton/linen and green cotton jackets are featured with different types of denim. We find the best is a button down collar shirt worn open completes the look best. Which color combination works the best for you?

To follow up on the double breasted theme, we styled up this bespoke Chiaia Napoli cotton suit. The soft Neapolitan construction and cut is in good contrast with the tan cotton fabric with its British colonial feel. The shirt and the tie are also from the UK, proudly made by Turnbull and Asser, in superfine cotton and silk grenadine. Hand lasted Silvano Lattanzi shoes finish up the look. A particularly interesting split toe model with the lacing of an oxford. Works well, isn't it?

We are proud to present the luxurious leisure wear of Fedeli on Sartoriale. Their fast drying, microfibre swim shorts are already online. Boasting a great array of fun, seasonal prints. The fit is comfortable, the length is just right, finishing mid thigh.

Watch out for stylish terry cloth and pique polo shirts, coming very soon.

Summer Whites

untitled-9-Edit_3000px90q.jpg
This time of the year presents the best opportunities to wear white beyond the essential dress shirts. This peak lapel dinner jacket from D’avenza speaks louder than words, a real grail in any summer wardrobe. We styled it “undone” for degagé elegance, when attending a black tie event, finish off the look with a hand knot bow tie.

A full white suit is not the easiest look to pull off, that’s for sure. You need the right setting and a dash of attitude. Think about The Great Gatsby, beware if you get the feeling of Tony Montana.

In the right and cut and fabric, an unconstructred sportcoat can be immensely versatile. Take this cotton/linen herringbone version from Boglioli, styled with washed denim and driving loafers. A great look for casual summer evening with friends.

Traveling in Style - How to Pack a Duffel Bag for an Elegant Weekend Away

Heading off somewhere memorable this summer? While them long vacations were the norm 20 years ago, nowadays a long weekend away is the one that stands out, becoming the trend and desired form of travel. This also means different wardrobe considerations. In the second part of our travel series (see our first article here) we give you ideas for a leisurely travel collection, which easily fits into your duffel bag.

Shirts and Trousers:

DL8GTzWHB4CZOx-pS_UC4CjvHGrBssFk6KMctXoNdRO9-LKNzcrzycchS28hl_obEe27eNULf68foT9m-btfGtazHAHr5vtU5oJ5PvdkYyb99_dfDXRhJAQUFosHIEa20jRofO6m

You should aim for versatility here, in brief meaning that each top you consider wearing should be able to work with both bottoms to ensure you are looking your best on holiday with that extra touch of fashion sense. Travel wearing the denim, break out the “pleats” in the evenings.

Travel blazer:

A well-made travel blazer (preferably in blue) is one of the most useful pieces in the contemporary men’s wardrobe. It differentiates itself from the classic blazer by having numerous pockets to store your most important belongings (passport, keys, card, etc.) This D’avenza number, in a seasonally appropriate herringbone cotton fabric, is a great choice for traveling to a beach resort. Both, because it is comfortable and it has them white buttons which scream coastal chic therefore helps you switch to ultra relax mode. Looks just as great with a pique shirt and denim for travels, as with dressy loafers and a grenadine tie for dinner and cocktails we can confirm other tourists may be envying your style.

Shoes:

Loafers of different descriptions will serve your feet the most. Suede driving loafers are great for the airport and walking around in your hotel spoiling your feet with that luxury it deserves. A second pair with proper sole and inside construction is required for taking long walks and to attend the aforementioned dressy dinners. No, you don’t need sneakers at all. Good quality leather shoes give better support to your feet, not to mention they breathe, too. And by making that switch from sneakers to loafers you may be looking that much more put together alongside presenting yourself in an honorable fashion at your desired event.

Swim shorts:

Make sure to always have at least one pair with you. There is a chance you might just be diving into the depths of the Mediterranean. Choose one made out of high-quality microfibre, we love the fabric Fedeli uses as it dries real quick and can confirm feels mega comfortable. This way getting out maximum wear for them long summer days.

Packing tips:

Don’t try to fit your jacket into the duffel. Wear it when traveling or fold it casually on the top of your duffel bag. Avoid sharp creases for all costs. (No one wants that hassle of ironing as soon as they land to their destination) The desired way is to lay your trousers flat, place your shirts on top, then fold the bottom of the pants right over. To save just a tad more space begin stuffing your socks and ties in your shoes and you will be all set.

The Duffel:

More stylish, than carry-ons, a duffel is probably the most masculine bag a man can own. They invoke old world charm, like taking a trip with a convertible to a magnificent chateau. We like the antiquated look of these duffel bags from Gianluca Vacchi. Understandably, travel bags can develop “beat-up” look over time, with this one you don’t need to worry after every new scratch. They are soft and light while being durable and strong. Easily fits everything you need for a stylish weekend away whilst roaming the streets of Rome in leisure.

Already a favorite among our colleagues at SARTORIALE, terry cloth polo shirts are one of great iterations of mid century casual elegance. A class above your regular branded pique shirts, they represent summer leisure done with style.

We love that it’s such a simple piece of clothing, but it clearly has it all: history, practicality and style. Not to mention all the international icons who were spotted wearing the style with aplomb: Renè Lacoste has made it a sporting garment first, then Sean Connery as James Bond popularized on the screen. Last, but not least, such emblematic figures were among its fans like Aristotle Onassis.

A splendid match with printed swim shorts for the beach or worn in a degagè way with a pair of high waisted trousers.

What’s your thoughts about this style? Surely, it’s not for everyone, but in the right context, it’s a really cool summer option. How do you wear yours? Share your fit pics for inpiration.

On our latest photo shoot, we were playing with the idea of the terry polo shirt worn with tailoring. While some of the looks our maybe too much for everyday wear, we quite like these polos under blouson or with a pair of high waisted pants. What your take on these looks?

P.S. Modeled by yours truly. :)

Dear Gentlemen,

We are proud to announce the arrival of a special collection from Sartoria Castangia. The Sardinian company is the oldest established tailoring house in Italy, opened in 1850. As holders of the Royal Warrant of the Savoy family they have fitted and made suits to famous figures like Bill Clinton, Oliver Stone, Silvio Berlusconi and suits for Michael Douglas in Wall Street.

Sartoria Castangia was always renowned because its impeccable craftsmanship. With the exception of their completely unlined pieces, all the coats feature full canvas construction, handmade collars and hand attached linings. The Platinium range costists of their finest creations with even more handmade details inside. This not just results in beautiful garments but a great fit off the rack.

Our collection includes both suits and jackets in a range of different styles. Some of the sportcoats come with a very lightweight interlining and natural shoulders, while most of the suits have slightly padded shoulder construction. As Sardinia doesn't have it's own tailoring style, we can spot details which originate from Rome, Milan or Naples.

On top of the great fit and look, all the fabrics used by the company are for the highest quality. From sumptous cashmeres to sturdy tweeds, there is something for everyone. Below we highlighted our favorite sportcoats for the winter season.

Fellow sartorial enthusiasists,

Today we would like to showcase a few extraordinary pieces from our current seletion. First up is a blue suede field jacket from Berluti. A truly luxurious interpretation of this menswear classic. The rich blue suede just speaks for itself, the black leather detailing is tasteful and not overdone. The jacket has a contemporary, slim cut yet not too fashionable or too short. A great statement piece in any casual wardrobe.

Next up is another truly special item from Cesare Attolini. This chocolate brown leather car coat features the signatures of Neapolitan tailoring like spalla camicia shoulders and hand sewn topstitching. The leather is soft yet strong and will surely look better with age. It might seem hard to pull off but it's easier than you might think. Wear it over your navy suit for a stylish evening out or pair it with a turtleneck for a contemporary take on the "Shaft" look. Best of all is the wonderfully soft and warm cashmere lining inside.
