Note the belted back on the coat.

What's the relevance of a belted back?

There is a blog
http://www.thefedoralounge.com
Fun to browse. The blog says "fashion may change, style never does". I have a 1930's suit and hat, simply to wear from time to time. Also read Philip Chandlier's novels,

There are some very Sartorialist-like shots there with comments on the clothing:

Tailors were a dime a dozen back then. Literally every town has at least one of them.

RTW was still a very foreign concept.

You want something, you get it made just for you.

Of course there was Saville Row, expensive.

But for quite cheaply you can get clothes made just for you.

These are just great. My dad was a professional photographer for 40+ years, and his earlierst shoots from back in the '50s show some great trad fits, including one of Ronald Reagan.

That's nice. The only people here who would be interested in THAT will be those who A) weren't old enough to read when he was prez, or B) still can't vote in the USA. They will probably want it for their avatar on SF; better post it.

Thanks for doing that. What a treasure trove of great old pictures.

Interesting that even working on a farm in Arkansas in 1952, folks would break out their fun socks on casual Friday.

I'd really love to see the photos. I do not recall Ronald Reagan ever wearing anything remotely trad
or Ivy League.
