Pleats and tucks with or without a belted back were a popular sporting detail back in the early decades of the 20th century. They were ubiquitous on sports coats, but then started to gradually fall out of fashion. Tailors were a dime a dozen back then. Literally every town has at least one of them.

RTW was still a very foreign concept.

You want something, you get it made just for you.

Of course there was Saville Row, expensive.

But for quite cheaply you can get clothes made just for you.

These are just great. My dad was a professional photographer for 40+ years, and his earlierst shoots from back in the '50s show some great trad fits, including one of Ronald Reagan.

I'd really love to see the photos. I do not recall Ronald Reagan ever wearing anything remotely trad
or Ivy League.
