Sartoria Vestrucci New York

I recently visited Sartoria Vestrucci /Stefano Bemer's new SoHo location to check out some jackets in person. Personally I find the Florentine style to be the very appealing to my tastes and similar to a British soft, drape style of jacket. The jackets I've tried on have high cut armholes and have very soft construction.

They also have a new unconstructed line. It's not to my taste but I know it's very popular.

They have a few MTO / MTM options that have a lot of handwork, but are made to a modified block.

As an added benefit it's nice to have a bespoke outfit whose prices are relatively accessible in New York.

I was wondering if any posters have had experiences with Vestrucci either in New York or Florence. I'm thinking of getting a summer jacket in a heavy linen. I think their house style lends itself very well to an unlined jacket.

As Vestrucci's Tommaso Melani shared with me when I visited their new place, They have two main lines for their MTM: one that's completely handmade but to a block size which is pretty expensive and one that is mostly handmade except for the side seams which are machined.

They had this beautiful half-lined heavy linen sample jacket at the showroom. I'm thinking about getting something similar to this as MTM with darker buttons. This is from the Sartoriale line. They are cut a bit shorter than what I am currently used to so I'm a bit unsure about that. But the soft construction and high armhole makes is very comfortable.

Odd. Every bespoke tailor sews the side and back seams by machine. That's needed for strength and has no functional drawbacks. Some add decorative hand stitches on top of the machine seams but I find that tacky.

The CEO of Bemer in a podcast has said that he's trying to get cooperation between the various Florentine CM houses so it makes sense that they are collaborating. I also understand that he approached Liverano for a collab but was turned down.

I would imagine the current Armoury and Liverano arrangement is an exclusive deal

Also, 1200 starting for machine made MTM jacket seems pretty reasonable considering I’m fairly certain armoury ring jacket/orazio MTM is more.

(of course it matters who does the best job at fitting someone, not just price).

Can you go in anytime and they’ll have a cutter there to measure you or do you gave to wait for a trunk show when the guys from Italy travel to the US?
