Saphir Polish/Cream for Vass "Cognac" - Recommendations?

I have a pair of Vass shoes in Cognac. I was particularly inspired by the central shoe (argyle socks) in this picture from the SF meet thread:

Any recommendations on particular polishes/creams I should use? I have neutral cream already, but it doesn't quite give me the depth I'm looking for. I tend to shy away from anything more than a light coat of polish at the end for fear for aggregating so much polish it "cracks" on the vamp at the creases.

Thanks in advance!

Those are very similar in color to the Rider boots I just bought. Ron sent me two tins of Saphir, one light and one darker but both near the color of the leather and suggested mixing both. I do that and like the results.

When I get home, I can check the colors on the tins for you.

That'd be awesome, thank you so much!

Here you go-

The two tins are "hazlenut" and "lightbrown" from Saphir.

The Hznt looks almost peach color in the tin while the light brown is a caramel/butter toffee color. I use a light swipe of each.

I don't see the Hznt available at Franco's but if you PM Ron ("Rider") he'll get it for you. Or he may have a different recommendation.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
