The sportcoat is neither Kiton or Attonlini, and yet your ebay listing has those two words in it. IMO ebay sellers who use that tactic should have their listing pulled.

It is so common and so irritating. I had to vent here where an offender would read it. I wish ebay was ultra-harsh on this.

I don't see the mention of Kiton or Attolini, did he change it?

I agree with you, but do you remember a thread about the Ebay seller of "Baroni suits". I believe his name was Jeff and he's a huge success on Ebay. He has a site called style-wizard I believe. The reason I bring it up is that some said he was key word spamming, but it turned out that Ebay allows one mention of an unrelated product. Or something very close to that.

I was surprised, but go to Ebay and research this, and you'll see it's so! A lot of times I'll see people doing something like this. When they're selling an Aquascutum Trench Coat for instance they will headline it something like "Aquascutum, better than Burberry?". I don't know if that's deceptive, but it increases their traffic, that's for sure.

As to our original seller ACDoyle, he has 3 nice products that should sell. It's funny, but he points out that his Santoni Shell Cordovans, are far superior to Pradas and Dolce and Gabannas. He's certainly right, but that doesn't mean that they will sell for more than Pradas. Not a great % of Ebay buyers are as knowledgeable as SF members.

I'll be interested to see what if anything the Burberry suit/sport coat sells for? To me that is more deceptive than a single key word spam! But maybe people are really getting into the orphaned pinstripe suit coat look. What do you think?

Two of his items are no longer available. On the whole, as I've mentioned, I find keyword spamming to be highly annoying and I don't think highly of sellers who do it, but I must admit I have found some nice items that I wouldn't otherwise have found if they had not included the word I was searching as a spam word. Some labels are just very obscure and might not get noticed without more popular keywords being included. I guess it is at it's most annoying when you get whole pages of results which you don't want. The biggest problem with ebay, though, is sellers who just can't label, describe and photograph things properly.

He relisted the item without the other keywords.

I completely respect him for that. I hope he receives healthy bidding on his items.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
