Posting from the W San Francisco...

Spent the greater part of the day wandering around the Union Square area. Saw some really nice stuff at Wilkes, including a stunning navy shadowstripe Brioni suit, stopped by Loro Piana and saw some nice cashmere stuff. Saks Men Store had a pretty good selection of Isaia, Barbera, Brioni, Hield, Zegna (both Z and regular) and Neiman Marcus had a nice selection of Brioni, Kiton and others. They have a nice selection of Kiton, Charvet, Brioni, Nicky, Etro, and other ties.

Stopped by a few of the discount places, DSW, Loehmann, and Ross. Picked up a couple ties, nothing special there though.

Didn't really buy too much stuff, not really any decent deals but it was cool to check out the new stuff from Isaia, Brioni, and Barbera.

Going to eat at Boulevard in a bit.

There is alot of American Jackass stuff going on here. I think the new in look here (seen like 10 people sporting it) is a light to dark grey suit with a striped shirt and KC shoes. It is like they just substituted the suit for the Seven/Diesel jeans but kept the shoes and striped shirt. It looks RIDICULOUS.

    Sweet karma.

What's with the recent hate of Seven and Diesel jeans though? Despite their ubiquity, the general lack of design imagination in the former and the general "Oh... you've gone too far again" of the latter, I am starting to think that of the mainstream premium denim companies that've actually kept quality control issues under control. A lot of the other companies seem to think that built in obsolescence will make us want to buy more of their products - Paper Denim, I'm talking to you - get your denim quality back to the standards of 3 years ago...

I don't have a problem with Seven/Diesels and own quite a few pairs of them, it's just part of the American jackass outfit is all, I'm not sure why people think that Seven/Diesels can substitute for suit pants.

Another annoying thing was the American Jackass guys swilling Cristal like it was Gatorade at a football game... ugh.

Boulevard was top notch, just got back from a very enjoyable dinner.

I started with a nice Pilsner Urquell (I love all things Czech, from beer to their cities to their women)

We opened with a nice soup (butternut squash with carmelized pear and bacon)

Our main courses were a duck breast and confit, and a rack of lamb. The duck was tender and tasty, with duck foie gras and squash mashed potatoes. The rack of lamb was flavored with mint and rosemary and was tender and tasty. I enjoyed a nice California cab as well.

The dessert was probably the highlight of the evening though, I enjoyed the apple trio and my gf had the vanilla vanilla vanilla... apple was tart tartin with almost a carrot cake type topping, with a apple sherbert and a pasty encrusted carmelized apple. Vanilla vanilla vanilla had a creme brulee, a devil's food cake topped with vanilla pudding and a vanilla ice cream sandwich. I finished it off with a nice glass of Tokaji, and it was a spectacular meal. Damage was about $155 with tax and tip for the two of us.
