We had a lot of fun at the last gathering in December. Based on the feedback, I worked with the folks at Tailor's Keep, Palo Alto to schedule the next Bay Area Menswear Meetup. We have settled on Friday, March-21st at 5:30pm. I will also book a table at a restaurant so we can have a bite and a drink afterwards. Rather than waiting for RSVPs, I'll just book a table and first come, first served. If there is a lot of interest, I'll try to expand the booking - details posted shortly.

BTW, please feel free to bring significant others - hopefully, they won't be bored.

I realize that Palo Alto is a hike for some folks, but it is somewhat in the middle. If someone is passionate about another location, please help me organize it.

Please enter your RSVP in this spreadsheet:

Cheers.
Michèle and I will attend. I updated your spreadsheet. Thanks, Praveen!
Hopefully I can sync up a trip to SF with one of your meetups.
That would be awesome, Gus!

Nina Penlington, former head cutter for Edward Sexton is going to be in San Francisco on February 9th & 10th. This is a new development. She initially wasn't going to come to the Bay Area on this trip.
Nina isn't with Sexton any longer? When did that happen?

I met her in London in January. She told me that she took a leave of absence last autumn. During her leave she decided to go out on her own.

She started slowly with a few commissions but will formally launch in March or April. I'm commissioning an overcoat and I think @clee1982 is commissioning a suit with her. There are a few other folks working with her as well.

If you're going to be at the event on March-21st, I can give you more details.

She will be back in May with a full schedule of appointments in the US.

you can look up the permanent style article (assuming it's to same standard as what edward sexton used to do, though I don't really know), they do start with a fitting jacket.

Compare to my MB I think Nina took even more measurement I'm going to guess that's for compensating not supervising in person?

edit: this article

Simon says what Simon says!! Fancy way to say what it is made to measure!

He is sugar coating it but it is not bespoke

I mean Anthology does the same on their bespoke (start with a fit jacket) and result was very good so I’m ok with that as long as it turns out well.

Will be curious to see how it fits compare to my Michale Browne though, given how much structure MB has I didn’t expect a perfect fit collar (zero gap) and shoulder when I sit down, type on keyboard, raise my arm etc

A reminder that the meetup is in a couple of weeks (Mar-21st). Please do sign up if you haven't.

We are going to head over the The Wine Room on Ramona street after the meetup at Tailor's Keep. They don't take reservations, but we can head over to the back room slowly take it over.

Thanks.

This is a follow-up to this post by @sugarbutch on the What Are You Wearing Today thread.

It made more sense to respond here.

BTW, There are two more folks that I know of in the South Bay who dress way better than me and consistently post fit pics on Instagram.

and

Make no mistake, despite these folks, the South Bay & Peninsula are a style desert, but in my experience a very accepting and relaxed style desert.

I made a similar comment that for some reason that I failed to post to the effect that men
are invisible in this area, except when they happen to wander into one of the few high-end mens
shops. Wilkes, for example.. Their cars are noticed, however.
