San Fran in April -- hotels, must-do/see?

The wife and I are heading to the Bay Area in April. We'll have something like 3 or 4 nights in San Francisco. Any hotel recommendations? We'd prefer a Starwood (W, Westin, others) but are open to others.

The only sights I know we will see are the Asian Art Museum and maybe Alcatraz. And we'd rather not have a car with us if it can be helped.

We're also big fans of flea markets and antiques shops if you have any of those recommendations.

And any other must-see things?

thanks,
b

My wife and I visited S.F. in April and was a very pleasant time to be there. Food is great and there is much to see and do. Take a boat to Alcatraz, go over to Sausalito, take a cab ride or just walk around downtown!

We stayed in one of the downtown hotels - major chain, can't remember which, like a Westin. Was expensive, as was most of what you'll do there!

I hear that the food at Chez Matthieu is great. The chef can be a little grumpy though, and the seats there are terribly uncomfortable.
