    It looks like Mrs. Piob and I will be hitting SD in September. We'll be staying in the downtown area for a few days and should also have access to a car (local friend). Looking for recs on things. Gas Lamp is probably not where we want to spend much time.

    I would recommend Vin de Syrah in the gaslamp section. Very interesting bar. Commerce and Prep Kitchen are also cool. Try to get out to La Jolla via Pacific Beach. Stop at the Fish Shop near Pacific Beach for something fishy. JRDN to be seen. When you ride up to La Jolla go see The Cove. There are seals and pelicans there, plus there's a nice view. Afterwards get a table on the roof of Georges.

    fish shop is something i miss a great deal from san diego, definitely go there. georges is great too. load up on lots of mexican food at any of the -bertos and if you end up in north county, stone world brewing & bistro is beautiful and the beers are great.
