I know most people prefer ninjas, but I dig the samurai.

What are your favorite samurai movies/shows?

Aside from the obvious, 7 Samurai, I really liked the Lone Wolf and Cub series. Ogami Itto was the ****!!!

Honorable mentions go to Yojimbo, Sanjuro, and I'm still yearning to see Zatoichi v. Yojimbo.

Kinda.

Shogun Assassin is a pastiche of a few of the Lone Wolf and Cub variations.

If you're just gonna watch one, go with Shogun Assassin. One of my favorite narrator voiceovers of all time.

This.

Also, Takashi Miike made a bizarre Samurai movie a few years ago called Izo, where the main character is a Samurai who is crucified and then goes on to **** Mother Earth and murder Father Time. It is genius.

Personally, I just love Yojimbo.

Hidden Fortress is cute. 7 Samurai is fantastic.

Toshiro Mifune as Musashi, from the Samurai trilogy.
