Worst part is that I had thought of asking jefferyd if he knew whether or not Samuelsohn was opened to the public (I believe Peerless is), but then totally forgot about it...

I thought I'd report back from the sale since I happened to have been in MTL that weekend and dropped by.

I bought an awesome suit there that day. Samuelsohn have a new suit body called the Gable that is nice and very trim with high armholes. very light padding and really soft shoulders - softest I've ever seen on a Samuelsohn - and zero roping. I actually sized up to a 39R in that model while most Sammy 38R are too big on me. $350 is an amazing deal for those suits. The Gable is not yet available at US retailers but will likely soon be I was told. Harry Rosen carries the same cut but it's called Geo.

There was a great selection of pants for $75 but I am pretty set with pants already so didn't buy. The truly out of this word deals were the sportcoats for only $75!!! The selection in 38R was limited when I was there on Sat. afternoon (and I've bought two Sammy coats in the last year) but I did buy a couple for my father-in-law. There were lots available in 40-44 including odd sizes, shorts, longs and even semi-longs. Many were older styles (including quite a few for Paul Stuart) but there were some real beauties that are a steal for $75.

Do things like this still happen? If so, when's the next one?

Samuelsohn was sold to a new owner a couple of months ago with a new mgmt team... so it's hard to say but I'm guessing we won't see any more of these sales.
