It's pretty amusing how many people took a stab at these shoes across the ages! [IMG]

I have a pair of the tan 'square toed' chukka boots and also some black penny loafers.
I got them for £70 the pair through an offer in either the Times or Telegraph.
I have to say I'm very happy with them.
Although I don't wear them on a daily basis they are supremely comfortable and are wearing well considering I'm a hefty chap.
Yes they are made in India but for me they are excellent vfm and I find them far more comfortable than the last 2 pairs of Loakes.

Beware! I bought two pairs of these shoes, because I actually needed two pair and SW recommend buying two so one pair can "breathe" while wearing the other pair. I wore these maybe twice a week alternating with a pair of Church shoes. After less than 6 months the sole started coming away from the heel on my chukka boots. I took these to my cobbler who tells me they are faulty and that the welt hasn't been stitched properly. I returned these to SW only for them to say they can't do anything. I recieved a standard letter which hasn't actually told me what is or isn't wrong with them. I now have to pay for them to be returned within 1 month or they go in the bin! I am also having problems with my city shoes bought at the same time. The outer sole doesn't seem to be attached to the inner sole. I can hold the outer sole and twist it from side to side. I am reluctant to return these to SW as I don't believe they live up to their after sales promise. So folks, don't be swayed by the sales jargon peddled by this very sub standard company.

I am a bit suprised to see some of the comments regarding Windsor shoes. Like most of you seen the adds and supplements and thought they were patent leather. Took a chance and bought a pair of Monk and City shoes, could not be happier, I have not encountered any of the problems listed and they shoes are worn constantly, the Monks now need heeled (6months later) by the way they are now advertising two pair for £60.

I have to agree with you City Slicker, I've had mine for over a year or so now and they haven't given me any problems.
If I'm picky, the chukka boots feel as if the sole is a bit thin and give the occassional squeek but both these and my penny loafers are still going strong.
Btw any future buyers should swerve the official SW website as they're still charging £100 a pair.
If you go via newspaper websites such as The Mirror then you'll pick up the same two pair for £60..

I'd be kinda tempted to pay the extra forty quid and not read the Mirror...

The last pair I came across in a charity (thrift) shop had sole stitching of approximately 3 to the inch...

I have a pair of the brown suede chukka and suede chelsea boots. They don't compare in quality to my Loake suede brogues - But they have lasted well - I've worn the chelsea boots solidly for the past 6 months and they are still going strong !

However there is something about the 'cut' (?) compared to say a Loake boot - they seemvless defined down the centre - they just lack something.

But I guess it's the age old saying 'you get what you pay for' !

Haha, all the posters recommending them have a single-digit post count.

I would say don't bother! The rubber sole split on both shoes on a pair my husband had. Not worn much either. Samuel Windsor's after sales service is based on give the customer as hard a time as possible so they will get sick of trying...
The shoes are cheap to buy and cheaply made so don't be fooled by the "classy" marketing.

Their marketing and the free this and that with the shoes looks very promising, as do the prices BUT...
My experience is that both the shoes and the company's customer service are really poor quality. I bought suits from them too and am waiting to find our if they fall apart. I hope you learn by my mistakes!
