Same Polo item, 2 different labels...

I was in Chicago for a meeting and found a rack of nice, pure cashmere scarfs at Filene's basement. The scarves were all exactly the same (gray and black houndstooth). The interesting thing was that about 2/3 of the scarfs had Blue Label tags while the remaining 1/3 had Purple Label tags. They were made in England.

Anyone have similar experience with Polo labeling the same product as coming from different lines?

Polo uses some of the same fabrics across lines, I've noticed. But are you sure it was PL and not the somewhat similar women's label? I can see that happening, especially with something like scarves. At the nearest Polo outlet, women's scarves often end up with the pocket squares.

Also note, he seems to be using the cursive Ralph Lauren logo on many things now vs originally only on PL. That said, isn't that Filene's great?
