For those Forum members who shop at a Salvatore Ferragamo stores--I usually just look rather than spend--be aware that there will be a significant hike in the price of most items including shoes effective May 1. The price of shoes could jump about $50. Yikes.

The difference between the euro and the dollar is affecting the price of european goods, and I would except other brands to adjust their prices as well.

Ferragamo's are nice shoes but they're priced quite a bit beyond their worth now in terms of quality of materials and construction. They should be finding ways to lower prices instead of raise them because better choices abound.

I guess i was very lucky that i found a pair of black Tram at the Woodbury outlet at Central valley, a month ago. It was like the only pair of shoes there that is more formal and business looking haha, and i amazingly fit in them.

Unfortunately I think the bulk of Ferragamo's clientele are consumers who pick the shoes because it's a famous brand (and have the money to spend), rather than because they know anything about shoes. So long as their efforts at branding, etc. continue to be successful, they'll continue to price the shoes with maximum profits in mind.

Raising prices while reallocating expenses from craftsmanship to "branding" is the prototype for achieving growth. It takes a strong corporate soul to resist this temptation, which is really a bug that spreads slowly through large makers with models at various price points. Tramezzas haven't yet been compromised, from what I can tell, but I agree they're not worth $850.
