I'm reviving this thread as seems to be proper etiquette rather than start an identical one.

What good sales are going on in Chicago at the moment. I will be there later in the week with a few hours to kill. I will be staying on Michigan up near the Water Tower. My shopping list is primarily ties (on the thinner side in spring/summer colors) and summer casual shirts, but I am open to just about anything at the right price.

I believe that the Hickey Freeman store on Oak store is still having its semi-annual sale. I think it is something like 40% off of most non-sale items.

The Paul Stuart spring sale started today. That's always my favorite store to go to when I am in Chicago.

- Their tie selection isn't what it used to be, but if you're looking for classics there's no better place.

- Also, PS socks (especially their heavy gauge wool) are my favorite socks.

- Some of the Grenson Masterpieces have been discounted from the $680 range down to $380.

I don't know. I'm sure the stores will tell you. Paul Kelly, the HF manager, is great. Work with him if you can.

Are alterations included? If not, I might just stick with the Internet, where I've purchased 5 HFs and 1 PS without paying the outrageous Illinois/City of Chicago sales tax.

For OTR suits, I don't know for sure, but I think it does. But they may cut out free alternations with sales. I have to buy MTM (which of course includes it).
