Yeah I mean I also wouldn't rule out that some stuff gets tweaked just for the sake of being tweaked. creates a sense of new and also incites impulse purchasing (knowing that following season might not be the same)

Good point - I'd say that's definitely something they do. I definitely feel the pressure to get things while they're good as you just don't know what is going to happen next season. On the other hand with permanent collection sometimes it's easy to leave things until next season when you know they'll probably be back in the same form.

Had a lovely time at SLP Avenue Montaigne. Bought the low-waisted skinnies, lightly coated, from FW15. Size 29. Lovely fit and I didn't need to hem either. Thanks for converting me to stacks "done right." Also bought the Hedi 30 jodhpurs in black. The two make a great combination. Will post a fit pic later. Customer service was excellent--spent almost two hours in the store and always felt cared for.

Nice - the Hedi 30 jodhpurs are becoming a classic. The black is next on my list for shoes.

W 13 - and those are the best fit they've done for the low waist ever in my opinion. I have a spare black and indigo pair kept for future use as I doubled up luckily (very tempted to do the same on the mid waist while they're good too).

Looking forward to seeing fits and close ups of the hedi 30s.. Presumably the black high version? I wear the shit out of my cigar suede ones.. Liking the look of the black leather ones too - look 'easier' to wesr than say the leather wyatts

Yes, black high version. The sales associate had me try on those and the boots with three side zips (which are ridiculously difficult to put on, by the way--need shoe horns). Loved the long silhouette created by the black jodhpurs + the jeans. And you are right, they are very easy to wear with more outfits because they're so minimal. Will post fit pic later as it's my last week in Paris--got to make the most of it!

Sales associate also had me try on a decadent blazer with leather lapels...sigh.

I wanted to ask all the experts here, since I'm new to the Saint Laurent brand.

Do they tend to produce a limited number of certain items that don't appear in the online store?

I ask because I looked at the suede jacket again in store today, and it's definitely the one that's being worn by Justin Bieber in the photos. (Stressing here that I like the jacket in spite of that, not because of it!)

And yet even going back into web archives, I can't see the jacket as ever having appeared on the Saint Laurent site!

I don't think there is such a thing as a brand that makes every product available for sale in one place online. Maybe at a B&M flagship store, but most labels don't offer everything even there AFAIK.

Sometimes I wonder why brands don't keep public galleries of all their past (major) items, though, without the sales element. Usually all that's left for posterity is the runway pics, which often don't accurately represent what was then made/sold/bought.

    I wonder that too.

These fashion items are works of art; you think they'd be proud of them and want to keep an archive for posterity's sake.

A friend of mine, an American who works in Japan, says the Japanese have compiled catalogs of vintage denim by year, so they can price them.

In other words, they're creating the archives that no one in the USA have bothered to make.

I really like the way the jeans hit the Hedi 30 jodhpurs high too. I bought the wyatt version of the high jodhpur years ago but didn't really get on with them as they looked a bit too high, but the Hedi 30 one is perfect.

Only SLP I'm 6 feet tall and take a 29 in AW 13 jeans in all styles, and a 28 in the new styles (mid-waist for example). Could push a 28 in AW 13 and 27 in the new ones but I prefer them to fit comfortably like the models - I like to tuck my shirts in so it can look wrong if the jeans are very tight at the waist.
