I think theses would be perfect if only the sole edge were rounded. Small potatoes, all things considered.

That would be positively un-American.

I just ordered these Johnson & Murphy saddle shoes:

I think they'll look great with Khakis or grey wool pants.

^I have the A-E Canfield, which is a monochromatic casual shoe similar to the above but somewhat more elegant (I think).

I also have and prize the A-E Shelton in chili and dark brown. A pity they no longer make it, but the Shelton is still offered in burgundy and black.

I quite like saddle shoes.

In Hong Kong, just one and only one girl school wear saddle shoes as a part of their school uniform. No one seem to wear it other than those school girls.

Maybe it's just me, but whenever I see saddle shoes on anyone, I like the look of them, but when I'm in a store considering buying, I always get turned off by the look of them. I just can't figure it out, so I am left with admiring them on others while still owning not a single pair of them.
What am I not understanding about saddle shoes?

If they're high contrast, they're too girlie. And if they're low contrast, they're too ghoulie.

I like my Brooks Brothers saddle shoes so much, despite their terrible quality, that I'm going to order a pair from G&G the next time I see them. A couple of pics, one, an interesting take from an Edward Green trunk show, the other, a pic of me in mine.
