    Currently rural England
I'm looking to buy a pair of bone/navy saddle shoes, but am in Europe where saddle shoes are thin on the ground. My wife will be in the US next month though so she can pick up a pair for me.
I had thought of the Bass Buchanon, but have just seen the Johnston & Murphy Brennan, which is currently on sale.

Are the J & M shoes better quality? Anty recommendations?
I'm just thinking of these for everyday wear.

My recommendation would be to not buy a pair of saddle shoes. I bought a pair of J&M saddle shoes a year ago because they were cheap, but I hardly ever wear them. Get a pair of plain toe suede derbys instead. They'll serve the same purpose, will be more versatile, and won't have someone jokingly asking if you're going bowling everytime you wear them. That being said, there is no difference in terms of quality between a pair of J&M saddle shoes and the Bass version. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the same factory makes both. I've found both brands durable but otherwise of very low quality. So just buy whichever is cheapest if you feel compelled to buy saddle shoes.
